What is
Universal Design?
What are the benefits of working with a CAPS Designer?
  • Universal Design creates a home you can live in safely, independently and comfortably, regardless of age or ability level.

  • It's accessible and convenient for everyone.

  • CAPS Designers don’t just serve seniors, we serve injured service personnel, physically and mentally challenged children and young adults as well as young, middle aged and older people who may have physical limitations due to an accident or  debilitating disease.

  • With that said, we certainly understand the specific needs of the older adult population.

  • By opening a client’s eyes to aesthetically pleasing aging-in-place amenities, we help them live longer independently in their home, which is much more cost-effective than living out one’s senior years in an assisted care facility, and helps maintain the individual's dignity,

  • We have a repertoire of useful products and resources, providing comprehensive and practical aging-in-place solutions and design techniques to create attractive, barrier-free living spaces.

  • A Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist can also work with an Occupational Therapist (OT) to develop a home modification or build plan based on the safety and functional needs of an individual or household.

"Nearly 90 percent of people over age 65 want to stay in their home for as long as possible, and 80 percent believe their current residence is where they will always live."
